About Tobi

I know what it's like to feel like an imposter and lack in confidence. On many occasions in my career I have felt completely out of my depth - paralysed by doubt over whether I can do my job.

But I have also learned that these experiences of overwhelm can be overcome. It is possible to take the brave steps forward and face what's holding you back.

In the 20 years that I've worked in technology startups and scaleups, I've met many brilliant people that struggled with confidence.

And over the years I had to face and overcome very challenging work situations and my own poor health - often at the same time.

I'm now embracing the wealth of my life experiences to help others on their journey.

My Life Experiences
As a student, I studied and worked abroad in places like Egypt, South Africa and Ireland. I experienced that there are many ways to live our life and realised that culture is shaped by society and in turn it also shapes us.

My degree was in archaeology and I was particularly interested in what makes us human. How does human behaviour emerge and how have our brains developed over time? I realised that people haven't really changed much - what drives us today has driven us for millennia.

I discovered cognitive science and how cutting edge research is gradually revealing how the brain works. This offers us radically new ways we can understand and re-invent ourselves. I realised that we create models of our world, predict our reality and shape our surroundings accordingly.

As a leader in startups and scaleups, I learned first-hand what it means to grow as a person and at the same time support others in their growth. Being exposed to an environment full of extreme experiences had a big impact on myself. I discovered that building self-awareness around our thoughts and feelings is essential for our growth journey.

I decided to train as a coach to help people with this. I found that creating self-awareness and changing our habits is hard, but also that it is possible and necessary for our success. I realised that new habits require us to incorporate all of our current needs.

My perspective on life has also been shaped by my own health journey. When I was 28, I had open heart surgery to fix a faulty heart valve. Twelve years later I needed a kidney transplant and as recently as 2024, I needed surgery to remove bowel cancer.
My biggest learning from these events is that life is beautiful and precious. I intend to explore how I can contribute to making life as interesting and exciting as possible for myself and others around me.
